| On November 22, the secret Imperial order to overthrow the Shogunate was given to Hisamitsu and Shigehisa, and on the following day, 23, the Imperial Court ordered Hisamitsu to come to Kyoto in order to cope with the petition for Taisei Hokan (transfer of power back to the Emperor) by Shogun Yoshinobu on the same day. |
