The origin of the surname is that Shigeyori hisaemon TOKI, a descendant of Yorisada TOKI's forth son Doken, was based in Higashino village, Ikeda County, Mino Province; in the northwest (inui) of Inabayama Castle: the castle where the Toki family usually resided. 土岐頼貞の四男道謙の子孫、土岐久右衛門重頼が、美濃国池田郡東野村を本拠とし、土岐氏の居城である稲葉山城の北西(乾)の方角であったため名字としたという。 |
