In 1863, after feudal retainers of the Satsuma Domain killed each other in the Teradaya Inn (the Teradaya Incident), Otose ordered her servants to replace battered tatami (mats) and fusuma (sliding doors) immediately to prepare for resuming a business. 1863年、寺田屋事件が起きて薩摩藩士が斬り合いを行なった後、使用人に命じて即座に畳や襖を取り替えて、営業できるように整えたといわれている。 |
