There is a view that this variety was born in the Tokoku district in the latter half of the Edo period (though the details aren't known) and, in or around 1893, it became a parent of general-purpose rice (but there are also different views in this regard). 江戸時代後期に東北地方(詳細不明)にて誕生し、1893(明治26)年前後に一般米の親株となったとも(複数説あり)伝えられる。 |
