The Samurai-dokoro in the big 146-m-wide residence of Kamakura shogun was the place where gokenin (an immediate vassal of the shogunate) gathered to hold ceremonies or banquets, but it is also considered that shogun and gokenin sometimes sat face to face there as a ritual characteristic to the samurai society. 十八間という巨大建築であった鎌倉将軍邸の侍所は御家人が参集して儀式や宴を行う会場であるが、武家社会固有の儀礼としてときには将軍と御家人が対座することもあったとみられている。 |
