Of all Kumano Sanzan Kengyo, from Zoyo, the founder, to Kakujitsu, the 6th generation, were known to be ascetic Buddhist monks who practiced asceticism in Mt. Omine, Mt. Katsuragi, and Kumano and were appointed to Mitsui Chori, Chori of Onjo-ji Temple. 熊野三山検校のうち、初代の増誉から6代の覚実までは、大峰山や葛城山、熊野において修行を積んだ修験者として知られ、三井長吏(園城寺の長吏)に補されている。 |
