Kukai was respected as Gohitsu Osho (the priest who writes with five brushes) in China and as the originator of Jubokudo (calligraphy) in Japan; his writing style was called "Daishi-ryu" (Daishi school), and Kukai, Emperor Saga and TACHIBANA no Hayanari, were called the best three calligraphers in the early Heian period. 中国では五筆和尚、日本では入木道の祖と仰がれ、その日本の書流は日本の書流大師流、また嵯峨天皇・橘逸勢とともに平安時代初期の第一の書家として三筆と称された。 |
