It used to be Uchi County in ancient times, and there are shrines based on the Engishiki (an ancient book for codes and procedures on national rites and prayers), including Uchi-jinja Shrine and Adahime-jinja Shrine (former Ada-go) dedicated by Hayato ADA who was forced to move to Yamato Province.
