In 752, he received the rank of Shoshiinoge (Senior Fourth Rank, Lower Grade), and was appointed as the commander-in-chief of the Japanese envoy to Tang Dynasty China and also appointed to Minbukyo (Minister of the Finance and Tax Ministry).
