In 1583, Katsuie, who was in confrontation with Hideyoshi TOYOTOMI in the wake of the Kiyosu conference, was defeated by Hideyoshi in the battle of Shizugatake and Ichi committed suicide together with Katsuie when the Kitanosho-jo castle fell.
