Hongan-ji Temple originated after the death of sect founder Shinran Shonin when his youngest daughter Kakushinni had a mausoleum constructed in what is modern-day Rinka-cho, Higashiyama-ku Ward, Kyoto City (in the vicinity of the Sotaiin sub-temple of Chionin Temple) into which his remains were interred in 1272.
宗祖親鸞聖人入滅後、末娘の覚信尼が1272年（文永9年）に現在の京都市東山区林下町（知恩院塔頭・崇泰院付近）に廟を営み、遺骨を安置したのが本願寺の発祥とされる。 |
