Honden (main hall), Haiden (a hall of worship), and Shinmon (shrine gate) are oriented to the north in the direction of Kyoto, which was a layout adopted in order to meet Emperor Godaigo's ardent wish to return to gosho (Imperial Palace) in Kyoto.
本殿・拝殿・神門はかつて後醍醐天皇が京都の御所へ帰還される事を熱望されていた心情を汲んで、京都の方角を向き、北向きに建てられている。 |
