According to legend, when TAIRA no Masakado started a war in Togoku (Kanto provinces of Japan), the edge of the paper hair tie on the statue turned into a bee and flew to torment Masakado with stings.
伝説によれば、平将門が東国で乱を起こした時、この像の髻（もとどり、結髪）を結んでいる元結紐（もとゆいひも）の端が蜂となって飛び去り、将門を刺して苦しめたという。 |
