With the Irie clan growing, in 1183, on the occasion of receiving the territory of Yoshikawa-no-sho in Suruga Province from MINAMOTO no Yoritomo, Tsuneyoshi, the eldest legitimate son of Kageyoshi IRIE, took the name of the "Kikkawa clan" (吉川氏) (also written in different kanji characters such as吉河 or吉香). |
入江氏の発展に伴い、入江景義の嫡男・経義は寿永2年(1183年)に源頼朝から駿河国吉河荘を得た際に“吉川氏”(もしくは吉河・吉香)を名乗るようになる。 |
