Though why the painting was done is not fully understood, it is told that Kinnori UTSUDA, a poet and wealthy merchant, requested the painting at restoration of Kyoto Myoko-ji Temple, and then it was kept in Kennin-ji Temple. |
製作の経緯はよくわかっていないが、京都の豪商で歌人であった打它公軌(うつだ きんのり)が京都妙光寺再興の際に製作を依頼し、その後建仁寺に渡ったという。 |
