In April (in the old calendar) of 1614, the Toyotomi family reconstructed Hoko-ji Temple according to Ieyasu's recommendation, and it was scheduled to hold a ceremony to consecrate a newly made Buddhist statue by inserting the eyes (thereby investing it with soul) in the Daibutsu-den (the Great Buddha hall) on August 3. |
