In 1615, Ieyasu established Kinchu narabini kuge shohatto (a set of regulations that applied to the emperor and the Kyoto nobles) to establish relationships between the bakufu and the Imperial court, and to clarify differences between the lord-retainer relationships in the Tokugawa shogun family and those in the Imperial Family. |
