He entered Mt. Shosha in Harima Province in 966, and founded Engyo-ji Temple (one of the thirty-three sacred grounds in Saigoku [western part of Japan]) after accepting the conversion of Kokushi (provincial governor) FUJIWARA no Suetaka to Buddhism. |
