後白河は「もし叡心果たし遂げんと欲する事あらば、あえて人の制法にかかわらず、必ずこれを遂ぐ(やろうと心に決めた事は、人が止めるのも聞き入れずに必ず遂行する)」(『玉葉』寿永3年3月16日条)という性格であり、この強訴でもねばり強く意思の貫徹を図った。 |
