| Following the transfer of the national capital to the Heijo-kyo (an ancient capital of Japan in current Nara), Hoko-ji Temple was also transferred from Asuka to the new capital to become Gango-ji Temple (however, Hoko-ji Temple in Asuka remained in the original site to be today's Asuka-dera Temple). |
