Before the merger of Kumiyama-cho, Uji City was formed in 1951 through a merger of the following two towns (pronounced as "cho" in Japanese in this case) and three villages (pronounced as "mura" in Japanese): Uji-cho, Makishima-mura, Ogura-mura and Okubo-mura which composed Kuse-gun, and Higashi-Uji-cho, Uji-gun. |
久御山町合併に先立ち、1951年(昭和26年)、久世郡を構成している宇治町、槇島村、小倉村、大久保村、と宇治郡東宇治町の2町3村が合併して宇治市が誕生した。 |
